FAQs
Student renting questions
When should I start looking for student housing in Hull?
Earlier than you might think. The best student houses near campus go quickly, so many groups start looking for the next academic year during the autumn and winter. Register your interest and we'll let you know what's coming up.
Are there any fees to rent a student house with MyPad?
There's no admin fee and no application fee. A £50 holding deposit reserves the property and is put towards your first month's rent if your application goes ahead.
How much is the deposit, and is it protected?
The deposit is five weeks' rent, and it's protected with the Deposit Protection Service (DPS), a government-approved scheme.
Do I need a guarantor?
Usually, yes. Most students don't earn 30 times the monthly rent, which is our income guide, so a guarantor may be requested as part of your application.
